A recent analysis of code within the official Phone by Google application indicates Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S26 series, expected next month, will incorporate Google's Scam Detection feature.
The Scam Detection feature, powered by the on-device Gemini Nano AI, has until now been exclusive to Google's Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 series and is only active in select regions including Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, the UK, and the US. A separate version of the feature, which uses on-device machine learning instead of Gemini, is also available on earlier Pixel models like the Pixel 6, 7, and 8 series.

The discovered code references the model numbers for the Galaxy S26 lineup within the dialer's framework (SM-S942 for S26, SM-S947 for S26+, SM-S948 for S26 Ultra). The Scam Detection function itself is identified by the internal codename "sharpie," which appears in the relevant code lines.
This finding is notable because Samsung phones do not use Google's Phone app as their default system dialer. While the app can be installed from the Play Store, it's uncertain if a user-installed app would receive the necessary system-level permissions to utilize on-device AI for this purpose. An alternative possibility is that Samsung may adopt Google's Phone app as the default dialer with the launch of One UI 8.5, expected to debut on the Galaxy S26 series. This remains speculative for now.
