In the beginning of December, initial reports emerged that Apple was in discussions with Intel regarding semiconductor manufacturing, a strategic move aimed at supplier diversification to reduce exclusive reliance on TSMC.
A new analysis from GF Securities analyst Jeff Pu now reinforces this rumor. Pu states he anticipates Intel will commence production of Apple-designed chips utilizing its forthcoming 14A fabrication process, which is slated to reach mass production readiness in 2028.

This arrangement would involve Intel supplying a segment of Apple's future A21 and A22 processors. However, TSMC is projected to remain Apple's primary foundry partner. Similar to TSMC, Intel's role would be limited to chip fabrication, not the design process.
In addition to iPhone processors, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests Intel could also manufacture chips for certain Mac and iPad models. He forecasts that Intel may begin producing entry-level M-series chips as early as the middle of 2027.
